thanksgiving day pumpkin shake

Thanksgiving Day Pumpkin Shake

1 to 1 ½ cups ice cubes

¼ - ½ cup Hood reduced fat milk (sweetened with Splenda)

2 scoops protein powder (no carbs/no sugar)

1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring

1 drop imitation butter flavoring

1 Tablespoon Pecan Pumpkin Butter (available at Williams-sonoma) OR 1 Tablespoon canned pumpkin

a dash or two of ground cinnamon to taste

sugar replacement to taste

puree well and serve

top with a little Reddi Whip and a shake of pumpkin pie spice!

Note:  {2 scoops protein and Hood milk gives this shake lots of protein. Used as two or three servings makes this shake a real treat within the limits!} Make sure to watch the sugar grams in the entire recipe and keep it under 10grams per serving and fat grams under 5grams per serving, the lower the better.
Note: For fast and easy shakes and no messy clean up, the Magic Bullet is a must.

double chocolate chip protein shake

1 scoop protein powder

1 cup ice

1/2 cup to 1 cup Hood 2% milk

1 tsp vanilla flavoring

8 chocolate chips/dark chocolate

1-2 tsp chocolate powder

sugar substitute to taste

Blend and serve!

Yummmmm-o

This is my new favorite shake!  Although I'm 3 1/2 years out from surgery and don't do too many protein shakes, on occasion I need an afternoon treat or just am craving an old fashion milkshake...and this one does the trick!

be-nourished

GNC has a new nutritional bar.  They have a fair amount of protein but not a lot of calories, and best of all they don't taste like a protein bar.

These bars are a great item to carry in your purse or pocket. They come in four flavors.  Peanut Caramel Crisp, Chocolate Soy, Strawberry Peanut Crunch, and Cinnamon Almond Crunch.  I have found they make a great addition to my breakfast with a little almond butter or banana just to top it off ! Packed with fiber and lots of taste!

My favorite flavor , believe it or not is not the chocolate, but the cinnamon.

So here is the nutritional info:  140 calories, 4 g fat, 17 carbs, 10 sugars, and 10 to 12 proteins.

Not only do they taste good but they are easy for travel.  I keep a few in my purse for those low blood sugar moments, for a quick bite on a track around "the Loop" or just out and about.
