fit joy protein bars
Being almost 11 years out from surgery, I don't eat too many protein bars, but I do like to keep a few of my favorites around for an occasional mid-afternoon snack. Fit Joy bars are wonderfully delicious, high protein, low fat and a balance of carbohydrates - this one is a keeper!
crunch time
One of the best protein bars I have discovered lately is the Power Crunch bar. Being in maintenance, I don't eat protein bars very often, but when I do, I look for one that is balanced in carbs and protein. Power Crunch bar is a wafer, so it fills you up without being heavy. It has 10 grams of carbs, 13 grams of protein, 4 grams of sugar and 13 grams of fat.
Now, I know what your thinking...13 grams of fat is over the limit for an RNY patient. So, when an ingredient has more grams than allowed to be bariatric friendly, it requires that you adjust your portion size.
So, now you can. You have many more miles to go!
tera'swhey
I recently discovered a new whey called tera'swhey. I haven't tried it, but it sounds really good - I might have to give it a try. Let me know what you think -
whey crisps
I recently tried Whey Crisps...and they are....way, whey crisp.
Whey crisps add a little crunch and a lot of protein to your favorite foods: soups, burgers, muffins, peanut butter, meatballs, parfaits, and more.
This moring I sprinkled about a 1/3 of a scoop of Whey Crisps into my cottage cheese and yogurt. They added crunchy texture - that stayed crunchy - without adding a lot of flavor of their own.
1 scoop of Whey Crisps have 150 calories, 1.5g fat, 7g carbs, 3g sugar, and 28g protein.
syntha 6
My newest love—Syntha 6 Protein Powder
Syntha 6 is advertised as the best-tasting protein powder - well, I think they may be right. It does taste fantastic.
I like Syntha, not only because it taste good, but because it meets all the requirements for a bariatric friendly protein powder as well. It is low in sugar and carbs, it has more fiber to keep you full longer, and it packs 22 grams of protein.
