a new protein find

As I promised a few days ago, I received a new order of protein...Chike.  It is gluten-free, low in sugar and the packaging is great.  You just add water to the fill line and shake.  Great for traveling!  It comes in 5 flavors, so far I have only tried the Banana.  I ordered the sample pack so I could try all five.  I really like the banana,  I thought it tasted good and "banana-y", like a banana popsicle.    It has less than 200 calories and 27 grams of protein.

I added ice and poured it in my "magic bullet".  If I were going to drink it at home I would most likely add another scoop of protein, something like Unjury, with no added carbs, fat, or sugar, simply because I like to get in more protein, even though it is really filling, it takes me a while to drink the whole thing.

I like the fact that you can carry it with you on the go in the container and add water.

I haven't tried the other flavors yet, so stay tuned...

www.chikenutrition.com try it out!

Flavors:  Strawberry, Banana, Chocolate, Orange, and Vanilla

Also available in 3 lb tubs.

goat whey—one of my favs

oryx-goat.jpg

There are so many choices when it comes to proteins. You can make selections based on a huge selections of flavors, or maybe you select your brand by sweeteners, then there are choices of origin, such as soy, rice, cow’s milk, or egg, just to name a few. Just recently I discovered a great protein that has some benefits that I found very favorable…Goat Whey Protein.

Goat’s milk is said to be the world’s most perfect protein. It is lactose free and eliminates the embarrassing gas and bloating that occurs with other whey proteins, that’s a relief!  It has the highest level of absorption and has the closest structure and properties to human milk.

Oryx brand made by Vyotech Nutritionals states, “Leading cow based whey proteins have on average a 40-50% absorption rate where as Oryx Goat Whey has nearly a 94% absorption rate. That’s double the absorption rate, so when you ingest 30 grams you are absorbing nearly almost all 30 grams.”  You can find Oryx Goat Whey at your local GNC.

all the whey—more of my personal favorites

Here are a few of the proteins I have tried, keep checking back, as I continue to compile the list and  new ones are added.

Powders and Liquids

  • Unjury - is my favorite, I started with this one and still continue to use it.  The reason I like it is because it is unsweetened.  High Medical Quality Protein  powder 20 grams per scoop, www.unjury.com  comes in other flavors that have sweetner, including chicken soup flavor.
  • Any Whey from GNC is good
  • Oryx Goat Whey from GNC.  It comes in two flavors.  I really like the this one because it's easily digestible, it taste really good and doesn't give you gas! (if you have a problem with gas after surgery, it is usually because of drinking the whey proteins, it seems to get better over time.)
  • Pure Protein is good, I think this one is at GNC
  • Isopure (clear liquid) 40 grams per bottle
  • VHT Extreme Smoothie / Chocolate Dream is my favorite, Harris Teeter grocery carries it.
  • Nectar www.dietdirect.com and www.vitacost.com . I haven’t' tried this one but it seems to be a favorite of people in our support group who really like it.
  • Profect Protein www.protica.com this is very similar to the ones at GNC that are in the vial, not tasty, but less than three oz., comes in 42 grams and 25 grams, the lowest grams is better tasting. I did them for a while, they are easy, especially when you travel.
  • Cytosport pure Protein is good, its fairly new I think. available at GNC.  It comes in three flavors, splenda, and it's really sweet.  I usually dilute it.  Tropical is my favorite.
  • Chike Protein Powder (see link at the left under protein and additional entry under Protein)
  • Syntha 6. You can purchase it at GNC - tons of flavors. Chocolate and Vanilla are always great hits. I also like banana and they have several new (2013) flavors with peanut butter! The protein and carbs are balance in this one.

Protein Chips

  • My favorite flavor is the Parmesan Protein Chips, other flavors and varieties are available.  I order them online, haven't found them locally.  www.kaysnaturals.com

a new protein find, hip, hip, hooray!

I just discovered a new protein at GNC.  Cytosport Protein.

Clear Liquid.

It has 0 fat, 0 carbs, 0 sugar (sweetened with Splenda) 40 grams of protein and 160 calories.

It comes in three amazing flavors: watermelon, tangerine, and tropical.  The tropical taste like coconut.

But be warned, they are really sweet.

Give it a try!

my number 1 protein staple: medical quality UNJURY

Choosing a protein is important for your weight loss success. Choosing a high quality one is essential.

I tried lots of different varieties in the beginning to find several I liked. I like to change quite often, so I don’t get tired of just one kind. One of my staples has been UnJury protein.

Not all protein supplements are created equal; UnJury is a high medical quality protein supplement. It comes in a variety of flavors, strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, even chicken.

I prefer the unflavored one because I like the versatility of being able to add different flavors. Unflavored is also the only flavor that doesn't have any added artificial sweeteners. The other flavors have aspartame.

One scoop of UnJury has 80 calories, 0 fat, 0 carbs, 0 sugar and 20 grams of protein. The unflavored selection has no sugar or artificial sugar added, so I can control my own.  I prefer Stevia or Truvia, because it's natural and because aspartame gives me headaches.

Tip: Don’t put protein in liquids over 130 degrees, like hot coffee, which will change the texture and harm the protein.

You can find Unjury online at www.unjury.com
